Hi everyone, first, the Winter walk....
...and I think you will recognise who I am with...
...yes, it's Jo of Let's Art Journal.Last week, having talked about meeting up since before Covid, we finally got to meet up at Lytham Hall last week.
We had a lovely lunch together with our hubbies (the photo I took of Jo isn't very flattering so I'm not showing it)
Afterwards we had a lovely walk.
We walked through an area with a small orchard - look what we spotted!
At the end of our walk we went to look at the second hand shop, here are Jo and hubby Graham. Jo is carrying the bag of bits and pieces I took for her.
Hubby and I had seen a news item about the number of starlings roosting on Blackpool Pier so after saying our goodbyes and planning to meet up again at Bluebell time we set off for the short drive to Blackpool
There weren't so many Starlings to begin with.
Some came down and landed on rooftops and wires and we thought they might just go straight under but suddenly they were all up in the air with more and more new birds joining in.
Two groups settled on the sand but some dogs came along and they were in the air again
We think there must have been at least 5,000 but probably nearer 10,000 by the time we were leaving.
Eventually they all flew in to roost under the pier - by then we were quite cold but felt that this had been so worth it!We were on our way out this morning when I got a lovely surprise in the post!
Jo has sent me a card and a little folder with lots of French goodies in.
Jo has sent me a card and a little folder with lots of French goodies in.
As this is turning into a long post I will show my final French pics next week!
We went to RHS Bridgwater this morning (hubby asked where I would like to spend Valentines Day)
We went for coffee and shared this enormous scone, which came with jam and clotted cream. Hubby had tea and I had an Americano coffee.
There's not much colour around yet but these Miniature Iris looked wonderful
Chris how wonderful that you and Jo could meet up and have an adventure.. The flowers and starlings are beautiful and something to remember! Happy T day! Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteHow awesome that you got to meet a blog buddy and had a lovely walk and lunch. The murmuration of starlings are amazing. I've never seen that many starlings at one time. Wow! Looks like a fun goodie package from Jo and a delicious goodie with your Hubby. Happy 💝 and Happy T Day
ReplyDeleteHow fun that you two were able to meet up! I love those snowdrops also. That is an amazing murmuration of starlings, I had to look it up, and that scone looks pretty tasty. Happy T Day! Elle/EOTC xx
ReplyDeleteHi Chris, such lovely blooms there already and wow all those starlings-you caught some great photos of them and how fun to meet up with Jo and her husband. that was quite special. That is a very large scone perfect for sharing.

Great that you got to meet Jo. It is so nice to see signs of Spring. I love the starlings, what an amazing sight. You got some great shots. Helen x
ReplyDeleteHow exciting you were able to meet up with Jo. And take a walk. With flowers blooming also. I'm glad you finally were able to meet up. This looks like a lovely day Chris. And that starling murmuration is very cool. I would have been watching them too. What a fun T day post Chris. Thanks for sharing, and I hope you've had a happy T day and Valentine's day too. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteHow lovely that you were able to get together with Jo. Too fun! Great photos and post. Happy t Day.
ReplyDeleteFun (if ccccold) pic of you two!
ReplyDeleteGreat reflection indeed.
Dangerous shops, that. Even more so when people put things for free out front! I got just another item....
And my box of free give-aways waits for better weather since weeks, too.
Love those lights, even fun in daytime.
Oh, wonderful pictures. I sure miss the ocean a lot. Thank you for letting me dream...
Wonderful card. Yes, we must have adventures!!!! Ack. I´m stuck with this!
Great you went out for Valentine´s. So sweet in more than one way :-)
Now I really wish my Dad would´ve been a heart surgeon and my name would be Aorta. It´s always confusing to see my name connected to the flower (he chose the name as he was an optometrist and referred to the eye). But it makes me think of him every time, which is good x
I would have been by sooner, but was out much of the day getting supplies before the snow and freezing temps hit tonight.
ReplyDeleteHow nice you got to meet Jo. I recognized her smiling face before I read anything.
What a thrill to see that pear sign. It was fate! Nice to see that you visited the second hand shop there. Looks like you gave Jo a LOT of great items she can use in her art. That bag looks FULL!
I enjoyed seeing Blackpool. I remember I saw an episode of Midsomer Murders that involved Blackpool.
All those starlings reminded me of when I lived in Missouri. There was a field across from the airport where starlings blackened the sky and field. It became such a problem, the airport had to add bright lights and loud horns to distract and scare the starlings prior to planes landing. Yes, the sky blackens and so does the ground when you see a flock that large.
How thoughtful of Jo to send those French goodies to you. Looks like some vellum goodies, too. She is sure a sweetie.
I would LOVE to taste clotted cream and a real scone. It looks great with your coffee and T's tea. Thanks for taking us on your trip to meet Jo and see the starlings, as well as your snack and drinks for T this Tuesday, dear Chris.
GLAD YOU WERE ABLE TO MEET UP WITH jO AND THAT YOU HAD A GREAT TIME TOGETHER. Fun sign wth your name, too! Hugs, Valerie
