Well, so much for a heatwave! Not that I like it hot, but considering some of the temperatures in Europe it hardly made a difference here in NW England. My SIL and hubby had it far worse in Poitiers, just as it was in 2019 when we had baking temps in Toulouse and arrived at Poitiers station to be told that is was 41 degrees Celsius.
Okay, back to cold Paris - as it was in April this year.
We used to pass by this park most days - it's part of a short cut we found last September
The outside of the railings had an exhibition about the place of women in society
I love the hotel we stay in, and I loved it even more when I found that there is an art shop just around the block.
These are some of my favourite water colour pencils.
I love the views from our hotel bedroom windows too. Lots of roof gardens and pretty balconies to see.
Butte Aux Cailles is an area built over Limestone mines and heavy buildings were not permitted to be built
Line 6 of the Metro network is at the bottom of the road - it is mainly above ground and you can get great views of the Eiffel Tower and other landmarks.
This used to be a Gallery - now closed down - I wonder what terrible art they sold?
Let's go window shopping!
Holding them with our gloves on!
Hubby had something chocolatey, I had lemon and melon sorbets - shaped into a rose!
..and I had the most delicious fruit cheesecake.
This man just wasn't going to move....here's what I bought though!
We did though - it may have been cold but I can always make an exception to get some of my favourite Amorino Ice-cream
Hubby had something chocolatey, I had lemon and melon sorbets - shaped into a rose!
Which leads me to the most delicious meal of our holiday - we had walked to Montsouris park and in the past have bought sandwiches to either eat in the park or back at the hotel before going for our Eurostar journey home. We had booked a later train so had time for a leisurely lunch.
The place we chose is one we had had a quick pizza at one day. Chez Nenesse is a bar with TV screens - we saw a Wimbledon match here once!
There's nothing special about it but the food!
It is here where I will join Bleubeard and Elizabeth for T Stands For Tuesday
Water came as standard and we had...tonic for me and coke for hubby.
We both chose the Plat du Jour - Pork, Mushroom and Linguini - it was just what we needed - considering, as we now know, that Hubby was recovering from Covid and I was about to start with it!
Hubby had (I think) Tiramisu.....and I had the most delicious fruit cheesecake.
Some street art
This is just around the corner from our hotel - I envy the retired folk who live here!
So, that's it from Paris...or is it? There's certainly no more from this visit and next week I'll be somewhere else....so...watch this space!!!Thanks for looking, Chris
Good morning Chris. Wow what a fun packed post with loads of photos-enjoyed it. Great art, architecture, and foods. Really enjoyed seeing this different look of Paris-Happy T hugs Kathy
ReplyDeleteThis post was spectacular. So much to see and eat. I really enjoyed the about women's place in society. I love how all the shop windows have things artfully arranged. Even the stacked chairs look arty. Too cold for ice cream for me. I'd rather have the macarons and pastries. Happy T Day!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had loads of wonderful and yummy fun - to travels and summer, happy T-Day.
ReplyDeleteHaven't ben in Paris since 2019! Thank you for this virtual trip.
ReplyDeleteJoin us at Monday Mural!
Wonderful photos Chris, so much to see and enjoy, and yummy ice and food as well! Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteThose political cartoons of the women and equality are my favorite of all, but I also enjoyed seeing the view you got from your hotel window. What beautiful terraces.
ReplyDeleteFrom your photos, it appears there are murals EVERYWHERE in Paris. What fun it would be just to hunt murals there. That would be more fun for me than shopping, even though I liked the window shopping you did.
Your food looks lovely, but I liked the ice cream and sorbet better. Nice to see a real glass bottle of Coke, too. Thanks for sharing your murals, your view from the hotel, window shopping, and the meal and snacks you had in Paris for T this Tuesday, dear Chris.
I loved every one of your photos! I really wish I could go to Paris the way you do — easily!
ReplyDeleteI think we have only been in the Butte aux Cailles neighborhood once, to a restaurant chosen by a friend. Is that the area once called “Le Butte Rouge” because it was very leftist?

I loved every minute lingering over this post Chris! The views from your room - the rooftops and buildings are just so wonderful. I'd like to retire in that place in your photo too- wouldn't it be grand...
ReplyDeleteThe street art is always fun to see.
Love all the shop windows and the food-yum!
Thanks for sharing, and happy T day.
I love these photos - I would absolutely love to visit Paris with you - you find such unusual off the beaten track places and things to see (and eat!)
ReplyDeleteBe still my heart! You took us window shopping in Paris!!! How wonderful is that?! And the food! and gardens and art... An art shop right around the corner from your hotel! Amazing! Thank you so much Chris! Happy T day! Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteThe rooftop gardens in Paris are wonderful. And you just have to love Asterix and Obelix! That photo brought back great childhood memories.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing Paris from your point of view! The street art and store fronts were my favorite this week. Oh, and the food! Basically everything about this post. Those Russian dolls are beautiful! I have always wanted a set. And I hear that Macarons in Paris are the best, especially from Laduree.
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking us with you!
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
I love the exhibition of women's place in society and that great pigeon in the park. Maybe the Terrible art shop closed because the art was so terrible lol. Sorry for my lateness. Happy T Day! Elle/EOTC xx
