Under the sea

Hi everyone, I have another page for Mia's Fish' theme at Art Journal Journey.

I used a Greetings card I bought a while ago  - I had every intention of sending it to a friend but then decided to make my own card and cut out the starfish to use on it along with some fishy stamps I had at the time.

I used some gold washi tape under where the starfish was, and added some Distress ink and some stamped Lavinia fish.

The big fish is a Carabelle Studio stamp by Kate Crane - I used promarkers to colour it in similar colours to the shells etc.  I decided to add some more Lavinia fish.

That's it for now, we're off exploring!

Thanks for looking, Chris

Seaside at Try It OnTuesday

Hi everyone, it's time for a new topic at Try It On Tuesday - I think we can definitely say now 'Here Comes Summer'

Please pop along to the TIOT blog and see how my teamies are looking forward to Summer.

I made a journal page with a very old scene stamp and some seaside items. The background is made with an Aall and Create Stencil, paint and water colour.
The sentiment is by Lavinia stamps.

I hope you will join us at TIOT this time with your take on Summer.

Thanks for looking, Chris

I'd like to be....

.........I was going to say 'under the sea' but then thought actually as a (virtually) non swimmer that wouldn't be such a good idea!

My latest journal page is under the sea though.

I used a page in an old journal that I had made some gelli prints in - they're not very good and definitely need covering.I used another image from a little notebook I bought in Paris

I also stamped a fish by Lavinia Stamps swimming with some friends.

I am joining in at Art Journal Journey and Mia's 'Fish' theme.

Thanks for looking, Chris

Fishy Friends

Hi everyone, I've had a little time to play and make another page for Mia's 'Fish' theme at Art Journal Journey.

I did mention that the fish head stamp by Aall and Create's Bipasha might appear again some time.

In the same set is a headless fish. I used Paper Artsy Fresco paints for the background and then stamped directly onto the page. I added more of Bipasha's flower and shell stamps around the page. The images were coloured with Inktense watercolour pencils and I added some sprinkle of Little Rainbow Moon sparkly powders.

I didn't intend adding any more text but when I came across the friend quote while looking for something else I just had to add it!

I have some scheduled posts coming up as I am taking a little break.

Thanks for looking, Chris

T Stands For ...... the fun bits of Paris

Well, so much for a heatwave! Not that I like it hot, but considering some of the temperatures in Europe it hardly made a difference here in NW England. My SIL and hubby had it far worse in Poitiers, just as it was in 2019 when we had baking temps in Toulouse and arrived at Poitiers station to be told that is was 41 degrees Celsius.

Okay, back to cold Paris - as it was in April this year.

We used to pass by this park most days - it's part of a short cut we found last September

The outside of the railings had an exhibition about the place of women in society

I love the hotel we stay in, and I loved it even more when I found that there is an art shop just around the block.
These are some of my favourite water colour pencils.
I love the views from our hotel bedroom windows too. Lots of roof gardens and pretty balconies to see.
Butte Aux Cailles is an area built over Limestone mines and heavy buildings were not permitted to be built

Line 6 of the Metro network is at the bottom of the road - it is mainly above ground and you can get great views of the Eiffel Tower and other landmarks.

This used to be a Gallery - now closed down - I wonder what terrible art they sold?
Let's go window shopping!
The Easter Bunny making an appearance!

This man just wasn't going to move....here's what I bought though!
They got a bit battered before we ate them - not cheap but delicious!

Not many eating outside in the cold weather so chairs stayed stacked!
We did though - it may have been cold but I can always make an exception to get some of my favourite Amorino Ice-cream

Holding them with our gloves on!

Hubby had something chocolatey, I had lemon and melon sorbets - shaped into a rose!
Which leads me to the most delicious meal of our holiday - we had walked to Montsouris park and in the past have bought sandwiches to either eat in the park or back at the hotel before going for our Eurostar journey home. We had booked a later train so had time for a leisurely lunch.
The place we chose is one we had had a quick pizza at one day. Chez Nenesse is a bar with TV screens - we saw a Wimbledon match here once!
There's nothing special about it but the food!
Water came as standard and we had...tonic for me and coke for hubby.
We both chose the Plat du Jour - Pork, Mushroom and Linguini - it was just what we needed - considering, as we now know, that Hubby was recovering from Covid and I was about to start with it!
Hubby had (I think) Tiramisu...
..and I had the most delicious fruit cheesecake.

Some street art

This is just around the corner from our hotel - I envy the retired folk who live here!
So, that's it from Paris...or is it? There's certainly no more from this visit and next week I'll be somewhere else....so...watch this space!!!

Thanks for looking, Chris
