Hi everyone, my page for Valerie's 'When One Door Closes, Another One Opens' theme at Art Journal Journey today reminds me of the times we used to stand by our caravan door hoping for a glimpse of the owls we used to hear(we did occasionally see one flying quite close)
They were there for three or four years then sadly disappeared.
I gessoed a page in my Kraft journal, then inked through a diamond and a gothic window stencil and added some stamped text. The stamped images come from two different Paper Artsy Lynne Perrella stamps.
I added a little bit of collaging and wash tape mainly at the bottom and some more ink around the edges.
I am finally getting to let go of more things I don't need. Hubby and I are both terrible hoarders and can easily convince ourselves that we need to keep things 'just in case'! If these last two years have taught us anything, it is that we don't need as much as we thought we did!
Thanks for looking, Chris
Good morning Chris, Your page is lovely for Valerie's theme. I think the owls are hard to see-I would hear them at the woods house but rarely saw them. and many mornings at the very rural post office I would hear them too.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Hugs Kathy
I love those Lynn Perrella stamps and how you used them on your page Chris. This is a super take for Valerie's challenge, and you created a great background for your page. I like how it feels a bit gothic. That works perfect with the bigger image, and even the owl. Maybe it even has a Harry Potter feel. Have a safe and nice New Year Chris. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteWonderful journal page, Chris, love the vintage look. There are owls in the trees here, I hope I get to see one. Thanks for making another lovely page for my challenge. Happy New Year, stay safe, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteI think of your caravan often when I visit Chris, you always had fond memories to share from your time there, I hope that the owls like you and hubby moved onto pastures new. Hoarders hold many treasures amongst their belongings, I know how hard it can be to let go of many things.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a happy & healthy New Year if I do not get chance to pop by before 2022 rings in. Stay safe Hugs Tracey xx
A great page 👍
ReplyDeleteI wish your New Year 2022 is happy and healthy 🎇💖
I am so with you about hoarding and learning from the past two years that we can do without things. I was surprised to see I had a couple of tinned goods out of date when I sorted out my tinned cupboard (and did my fridge) yesterday.
ReplyDeleteWe have owls too at our caravan but I have never seen them. The owner of the site has put up big owl boxes. but they are not near to us, we just hear them.
Love your page, the background is very subtle and works so well with the images. I love diamonds and arches, now I see the two together I will try it myself.
Hope you and hubby have a Very Happy, Healthy and Blessed New Year.
Maybe we will see one another in 2022? Fingers crossed.
Hugs, Neet xx
Such a beautiful page Chris! I recently had to buy that Lynne Perrella set with the owl. I heard a tawny owl early one morning last week, such a lovely call.
ReplyDeleteHappy New year to you both.
Alison
You are so lucky to have so many goodies. My "stuff" is garbage, or rather things my neighbors were going to put in their trash/recycle bins, not stencils, stamps, and inks.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore this page, Chris. It is beautiful and so well done. You find the best images and the best backgrounds. I am in awe of this, dear. Thanks for making it a grea entry for Valerie's theme, too.
I also want to wish you and T a safe, healthy, and creative New Year and a great 2022.
