Hi everyone. First of all a huge Thanks to Mia for hosting last month's Art Journal Journey - I didn't know there were so many butterflies!
We are starting July with another wonderful artist, Alison Bomber of 'Words and Pictures' blog, and her chosen theme is 'Summer Countryside'
It's no secret that I love wildflowers (or weeds if you are serious gardener) There are several traffic roundabouts that we pass occasionally and they are covered in wild flowers. They really do look fabulous.
My page features a favourite of mine even though it makes me sneeze.
I made a splodgy distress ink green background and then added some texture paste through a stencil and some stamping with my new Art Inspirations Ink and Earth set by Emily.
I had this piece of card so I coloured it with more green distress ink and stamped the IndigoBlu Cow Parsley and added some white pen on the flowers.
Both my page and the card had some wavy doodling around them.
The quote is from one of Alison's Paper Artsy sets - 'Gardens and Growth'.
When I was a young teen walking home from school the hedgerows were full of Cow Parsley - there's not so much around these days.
We did see some at Bodnant Gardens last week in the woods area. I hope to show more of Bodnant tomorrowI hope you will join us at Art Journal Journey this month.
Thanks for looking, Chris
fabulous page!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore this incredible entry. I especially love the background. It is extra special because it brings back your childhood memories. Thanks for sharing this great first entry at Art Journal Journey using Alison's theme.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful - I adore the gentle colours and delicate image... and of course the words! So happy to be spending some time in the Summer Countryside with you at AJJ this month!

Fabulous page with a wonderful background. There's lots of cow parsley around here, I enjoy seeing it on my walks through the fields. Have a great day, hugs, Valerie

ReplyDeleteHappy New July Month, hugs -Elke
Chris, this page is sooo pretty. Great colors, background, image and words. I have neve heard of cow parsley but it looks great in your picture and your page. I have some interestest things in our yard now - I need to identify them and journal them for sure! Hugz
ReplyDeleteWe get cow parsley here too. It is so beautiful and reminds me of summer. Your background is amazing. Your page really feels like a summer garden. Beautiful stamp and quote too Chris. Happy July! Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteI so love your background to start with. The colors are great and it looks as delicate as your cow parsley. The texture paste design gives it dimension. I adore that dots and circles stamping. Giving movement of an outdoor breeze. I’ve never heard of cow parsley but I do think I’ve seen it. A pretty countryside in the summer journal page!
ReplyDeleteThe Perfect Page for your blog submission. Love the way you have approached this theme of Alison's
ReplyDeleteNow I am not 100% certain what cow parsley is but if it is what I think it is I have seen quite a bit growing around the countryside. In fact there is a big patch of what I am thinking about at the bottom of our drive - must take a photo when I am home and show you.
Love your page, so pretty, and who does not like wild flowers. All are flowers in God's Garden.
Hugs, Neet xx
