Inspired by a walk and Nicole Warrington!

Hi, as I mentioned in my T Stands for Tuesday post earlier today we went to Lyme Park last week.

We do love the formal gardens but we really wanted to walk somewhere wilder! I was hoping to see lambs but they have been put behind fences for now and we only spotted one lamb while we were eating our picnic.

As we walked up the hill, thinking we might do a short circular route following the main pathways when I saw a seat a short walk away from the path under some trees. I had to use some of hubby's photos here.

It wasn't really positioned for a special vie but will be a shady spot in SummerWe met another couple, the only people we got close enough to speak to, and were able to exchange a few words about the area and the fact that no one else seemed to want to come this way. They told us that the way we were walking we were bound to come across the stags...and we did! Hubby used his zoom to get some good shots.

He was a bit worried that they seemed to be looking at me - I had walked ahead.

But these seem to be looking directly at him!

Hubby also spotted a Kestrel before it flew off over the hill

I have always loved making landscape art and frequently the teacher of a Wanderlust class was Nicole Warrington - I love seeing her work on Instagram here - she is known as Coastal Nicole.

Here is the watercolour page I made for Eileen's 'Inspired by' theme at Art Journal Journey.

It is a memory of the sights we saw on our walk, combined into one scene.

Here are some of my previous landscapes

A collage

Sometimes I add some stamping
Another watercolour
Sketching onto Infusions powders
This one used some peeled paint and some sketching

I'm ready to make some more.

Thanks for looking, Chris

  1. All your paintings are wonderful and inspiring! What a nice wild walk. Yes, a little too much interest shown by the stags. Can you run faster than they??? That bench looks so inviting. I really like todays painting. I also find the sketching over the infusions powders so interesting.

  2. Wow Chris, you were on a creative roll. All of these pieces are so beautiful. I love how you were focused on landscapes. And what a wonderful place to walk. It is really beautiful. And lucky you to see those stags, or as we'd call them here in New Hampshire, bucks. Have a wonderful middle of your week. Hugs-Erika

  8. What a stunning landscape you created. Really lovely, as are several of your previous ones. I love how it was inspired by your walk from yesterday's post. It was a lovely area, far wilder than the formal gardens you showed yesterday. Thanks, too, for co-hosting Art Journal Journey this month and sharing a glorious beauty to inspire us all.

  12. Well, Chris, you certainly hide your talent at times, these are wonderful! I had no idea you did painting like this. Please do more.
Every time I see your name crop up I think of Dunham Massey and Lyme Park (and Paris but we will leave that for now) and it reminds me that it is about time we visited one of these places again. Fantastic photographs, especially of the deer. Gosh, I think it that big guy had looked directly at me I would have been off as fast as I could.
Take care and keep smiling that lovely smile of yours.
    Hugs, Neet xx
