Hi everyone, it's time for some positivity with our new challenge at Try It On Tuesday - whatever you make we would like you to 'Add an Uplifting or Positive quote' to it. The Design team have provided lots of encouragement so please do take a look here!
I have rewritten part of this post since last night's announcement here in the UK!
I suppose we should have expected that we would be in Lockdown again! The journal page I made was about the bird as well as having someone in mind but now it is about all those people who will once again be on their own for several weeks more!
I had a page in this large Dylusions journal where I had mopped up some paint through a stencil. The colours weren't quite right on their own so I added some blue and lilac Paper Artsy paints(excellent for covering)and added some torn book paper! I used both ends of a paintbrush to add some yellow marks.
The magazine bird image has been in a box for a while. The Nuthatch is one of my favourite birds, we used to stand and watch them for ages at Leighton Moss RSPB reserve when we had our caravan and was always thrilled when we had the occasional visitor at our feeders.
The bird here is on it's own and the quote seemed just right to add here!
I hope that you will join us over the next two weeks, we really do need to be positive and feel uplifted!
The good news is of course, they are already getting on well with the vaccination programme - let's focus on that to see us through these weeks and use our time wisely - we will soon be able get out and about!
I am also sharing this at Art Journal Journey for Erika's 'Favourite Things' theme as not only is the Nuthatch a favourite but I also enjoy playing with paint!
Thanks for looking, Chris
Lovely piece Chris, we do need positivity just now! Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS art journal spread Chris! LOVE your background and your bird is adorable! As is your sentiment. ((HUGS)) and positive thoughts sent your way! Helen
ReplyDeleteA beautiful page! Loving the blues and gold in your gorgeous grungy background and the quote is perfect and so true 😁. Happy January and wishing you all the best for the New Year! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteLovely page Chris.
ReplyDeleteI really need some positivity right now and wish I shared your optimism - looking at the calculator I am not expected to receive a jab until August/September! A long time.... hey ho - my crafting and the 'Add to Cart' button will no doubt sustain me! x
I heard about the UK going into lockdown again. It has to be hard, but I think better than here where our numbers are so high. But I get it. It is difficult no matter where you go. Love the quote; it is so perfect not only for the challenge. And the rest of the page is also beautiful. The bird is a great addition. Stay safe Chris. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteA beautiful and very colorful page

A fabulous page Chris and your quote is perfect for times at present. Love the background with it's cold blues - mop ups are so good.

So beautiful page and quote is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
And thank for linking up at AJJ also Chris. This is perfect for the challenge!
ReplyDeleteI just love the page (bird! bird!) and the quote is beautiful, too.
ReplyDeleteVaccinations over here--total chaos. No federal guidance, as usual. Supposed to have had 20 million done by end of 2020 and only 4.5 million right now. And they will need the second shots.
Hopefully things will get organized and we will start seeing more people get vaccinated soon. I am hopeful for 2021! I've been in lockdown with the occasional bubble visit with McFamily since last March. Eventually things will shift. Much love!! :)
I'm so impressed with your beautiful bird. I think this is really very positive. I think we need that, too. The lone bird says it all. Fits the quote so well, too. I really LOVE that background. Thanks also for sharing it with us at Art Journal Journey using Erika's theme. This really made me smile, dear.
ReplyDeleteChris, this is just sooooo pretty. I love the frosty colors, pretty bird, and great words. So well done. Hugz
ReplyDeleteLovely page, I love the colours, the quote and the pretty bird

Lovely page, Chris. I've had a catch up here and enjoyed all your pages since last visit. As an Episcopalian, I have always kept my decs up through Epiphany...and longer when Life got in the way. To take them down before was sacrilege. And what a lovely frost y'all get. Heavier than any we get in Texas. As to the lockdown, I admit I wish you had clarified your definition of "soon", as I may be guessing you mean very soon as in as soon as lockdown is over, but from what I am reading, the WHO and Dr. Fauci are NOW backtracking the effectiveness of the vaccine and saying we'll still be needing to do ALL this stuff indefinitely. I am beginning to think that meeting just a very few people outdoors, masks on, 6 ft apart and talking to them via cellphone will be a thing by the summertime. But hey, at least it's better than now. Hang in and Hang On, Sloupy! Hugs! XOX
ReplyDeleteIt's our way forward to stay positive Chris, the bird is seen on it's own so often but birdsong can be heard around all the time. A beautiful way to express feelings captured the season with those cool blues perfectly. Stay strong!!
