Hi everyone, Storm Francis came along in the night, wind and rain, and we thought we might have to cancel a walk! Well, we got ready as the wind eased and the rain turned to a drizzle and by the time we arrived the dark clouds were rolling away and there were patches of blue sky and white fluffy clouds! By the end of our walk and we were headed back to our coffee in the car it started to rain, intermittently at first but by the time we had got home and eaten lunch SF had turned around and come back to bite us on the bum!!
Pouring rain and the wind whistling through gaps - we considered ourselves very lucky to have had such lovely walk!
We saw lots of flowers on our walk but sadly no irises, you may remember we also missed this year's display at Styall so when I saw Tracy Evan's Iris stamp it was a 'must buy'!
I used Aall and Create stencils for my background and then added some more of Tracy's stamps. The iris was stamped onto a tag with a light application of ink and second generation stamping, and coloured with Derwent Inktense watercolour pencils. I stamped the word Iris onto some gelli printed paper and used another piece to stamp one of Alison Bomber's garden quotes by Paper Artsy.
I am entering at
Art Journal Journey and Alison's 'Pockets and Tags' theme.

You got lucky with your walk for sure. I also had to have that same iris stamp. Now I need to use it. You used yours so well and made a great tag with a great page. Thanks for sharing it with us at AJJ Chris. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteLovely piece Chris. Glad you were able to get out. It's storming here, too, so I hope it will calm down by the time I need to walk to the dentists's. Have a great day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colours and composition Chris, many thanks for joining us at Penny Black and More 'Say it with Flowers' theme this month.

A beautiful stamp and with the stencils your background will create an interesting colorful look! You made a nice creative journal site.
ReplyDeleteFor me it storms and rains so that I have to stay at home today.

ReplyDeleteYou were lucky when you were walking, the storm sure dropped gallons of rain for many of us. I hope they don't say there is a water shortage this year.

What a stunning page. I can see why you had to buy that stamp. It is gorgeous and you colored it perfectly. It's a lovely, lovely entry for Alison's theme at Art Journal Journey.
ReplyDeleteSorry to read you got the storm on the backside. I've heard that hurricanes are like that, too. The backside is worse than the front side. Glad yu are safe.
Lovely page - and using Tracy's iris stamp too. I have that stamp and have seen some stunning ways to colour it on FB over the past weeks.
ReplyDeleteI do like the background to the page - just perfect for the tag.
