I used neo-colours II for most of the colouring, I adde some washi tape, coloured paper and a little bit of mark making.
I am joining in at Art Journal Journey and Gill's 'Anything With Eyes' theme.
I'm also going to join in at Paint Party Friday
It's come around to T Day so quickly again and of course I will be linking to Bleubeard and Elizabeth's 'T Stands for Tuesday'
As promised I am taking you back to Avignon. The photos here were all taken by hubby - I was juggling with a portable guide and couldn't manage my phone camera - even these photos are the best hubby could get as he was also using his camera one handed mainly
We visited the Palais des Papes (Popes Palace)
This fabulous building was the home for the Pope of the time in the 1300s when there was chaos in Rome - you may be better following this link for more information.
The model shows the size of the building
You might know that this was one of my favourite parts - the original floor has been exposed and there are some paintings still showing in parts on the walls.
We kept going up until we were level with this statue and it really was time for a drink...although there were even more steps to get to the cafe!
We could see the Bridge - we bought joint tickets as it was cheaper - more of the bridge another time!
Then it was time for the long walk back to ground level!
I will try to get the Bridge photos sorted for my next but one post! I'll be back in a few hours with my Try It On Tuesday post!
Thanks for looking, Chris
a delightful journal page and a sweet face Chris! Love the photos of Avignon- the preserved buildings and such are just amazing. Greta looking artwork on the windows too- so vibrant. Thanks for sharing and happy T day!
ReplyDeleteI am glad you showed us inside the Palais des Papes. When we were in Avignon several years back we were too late to go inside and only got to see the outside. And I think you made a super page with your drawing. I don't draw very well but I've come to the point it is what it is. And your background makes it all work together great! It is hot here today and a lemonade would taste wonderful right now. That's a super photo of your too. Happy T day Chris. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThis finished journal page is amazing. You draw SO well. I love those big wide eyes and they are simply perfect for Gill's theme at Art Journal Journey. I'd say your wide eyed girl definitely has attitude.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, more wonderful photos of Avignon. That Pope's Palace was HUGE. I'm amazed it's still intact. The old paintings would be my favorite, too.
You were truly brave to climb all those steps to get to the cafe. I'd have to have three drinks if it were me (grin). Seriously, it's a wonderful cafe inside the Palace. Thanks for sharing your journal page, your photos from the Pope's Palace, the cafe in the palace, and your drinks with us for T this Tuesday, dear friend.
great journal pages and I always love seeing all of your vacation photos as you visit such neat places.
ReplyDeleteHappy T wishes Kathy
I love the depth you achieved with the various media on the background for your charming portrait. Your photographs of Avignon are fabulous, and I now have a new place to visit to add to my bucket list. Happy PPF and thanks for your visit to my blog!
ReplyDeleteI steer clear of drawing, I know my limits...! love your journal page.
ReplyDeleteAvignon looks fabulous, what a view!
Wonderful journal page, and thanks for sharing the pics of Avignon. I visited there when I was at school, back in 1962, so its good to see it again. Happy T Day, Valerie

ReplyDeleteWell, she's definitely got attitude! What a great page, with those ripples of colour in the background and your hand-drawn face taking centre page. Nice work on finishing things too.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the visit to the Pope's Palace. Avignon was already on my wishlist, as I think I've mentioned, but your posts have sent it shooting right up to the top.

What a fascinating place, so filled with history, and I love that original parts are still available to experience. I'd be up for a climb for that view alone, and that's a perfect spot for a cafe. I look forward to more bridge photos. Now I have that song stuck in my head lol
ReplyDeleteHappy T Tuesday!
Your journal turned out lovely. And I am so glad you shared these photos. They are amazing especially the views from the top. I look forward to more of the bridge. Happy T Day!
ReplyDeleteYour journal page is wonderful. What a great face! Looking forward to seeing more of your faces.
ReplyDeleteThe Palais des Papes is a beautiful building! The architecture is amazing and definitely something of the past. I agree with you about the artwork on the windows. Very unique!
So glad that you shared, Chris. Looking forward to reading about that bridge.
Happy tea day,
Kate
Wonderful art journal page. Your lady is lovely looking. Fantastic architecture photos. What a great place to get to see. I like that area with the exposed original floor and paintings on the walls. I like their medieval artwork in the cafe area. Thank you for sharing your photos of this magnificent place. Happy T-Day!
ReplyDeleteYour journal page is lovely. She has indeed got beautiful eyes.
ReplyDeleteI loved your photos of Avignon and the Pope's palace is colossal! I'm now looking forward to seeing photos of your visit to the bridge. Did you dance? (Sur le pont d'Avignon, on y danse... as the song goes)
Happy belated T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca
I think your face is great, Chris. I love the big eyes, the bow mouth and the long thin neck. It's stylized but unique and very appealing. Keep it up! I would buy that as a stamp.
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of a story that Tamara Laporte shared. As her personal style developed and she started drawing big-headed girls with long skinny necks, her brother hesitantly said to her, "Ah, Tam, do you know the proportions are all wrong?"
Fabulous photos of the Palais des Papes. Like you, I'm awestruck when I can see the original surface and perhaps even some of the paint and murals in old structures. It feels like traveling back in time. We saw un-restored Mayan ruins in Cancun like that decades ago. It still gives me goosebumps to remember.
Happy T-day! Eileen xx
Wowww Chris, your Art journal page is really Wonderful !! I loooove it, the washi tapes give it a so special touch, unique!! Lovely drawing! Happy belated T-day my friend! I like very much this Palais des papes, it´s very interesting. Fantastic place to visit.
ReplyDeleteI wish you a very nice Thursday, and send you big big hugs,
Caty
Fun journal page. We watching a program called Knightfall which is a drama about the Knights Templars, Pope Boniface, and King Philip of France and their struggles. So your post fits right in! Gorgeous views and I love the Medieval artworks on the walls. After that long climb, the lemonade must have tasted so good. I hope there was a goodie waiting for the climb back down 😉 Happy T Day
ReplyDeleteShe does show an attitude, all in her eyes. I love faces too!
ReplyDeleteI adore her attitude! LOL Happy PFF!
ReplyDeleteLovely art, visiting from PPF. The palace is amazing, Popes were very powerful at that time.
