I added yellow to my page with a yellow Distress Crayon - Scattered Straw I think - blended with a dampened finger. I stamped my favourite Crafty Individuals background (CI340)- deliberately upside down and stamped it first in another journal to lighten the ink. I wanted the text on the right- as it is slanted script I don't think it's a problem!
Next I stamped Maria Katano's lovely bird (CI505)and used a Pitt Pen to extend the branch and to transform the berries into flowers. The bird was coloured in using a yellow Inktense water colour pencil.
I masked off the black flowers on CI493 - (Wild flowers and ferns) and stamped down the side of the page. Finally I added a sentiment that has long been separated from it's sheet so I'm afraid I can't tell you where it is from.I wish I could recreate this style of mixed fonts.
The page is of course of Rike's 'The Colour Yellow' theme at Art Journal Journey but I would also like to enter at..

Oh! The reason I haven't posted before is because we have been out during the daytime and this is the light I have been using when on the computer...
...our light above the computer started flickering the other night so hubby went to change the bulb and the metal connector fell out - we have contacted an electrician who will 'fit us in as soon as he can'!!!!
Working by this light was giving me headaches - I have now moved a table lamp and the combined light is much better.
Thanks for looking, Chris

ReplyDeleteSeeing these yellow pages really does seem to be bringing a burst of sunshine to us all. That bird stamp is beautiful, a wonderful design. I know how frustrating it can be to take photographs this time of year when there is less daylight time. Hope your lighting issue gets sorted soon Chris.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful page. Lovely bird and using of colours
ReplyDeleteA beautiful page Chris - love the bird stamp especially, and that was genius changing the berries to flowers :)
ReplyDeleteI've been disappointed lately trying to find different word and alphabet styles stamps so have a couple of books on hand lettering /arty letters and hoping to learn to do that to add to cards/journaling etc ... that is if I can get my hand to stop shaking when I am thinking all the time don't wobble, don't mess it up haha
Gave a nice weekend and hope the light sorted out soon.

A lovely page, Brenda - how can anyone not smile when seeing a beautiful bird like that? Makes me think of spring and the weather right now helps that along nicely :-) It's a lovely, muted colour theme and the addition of yellow is perfect. Great background, too... you have to add text to finish off whatever you're doing! The sentiment is great - I love mixed fonts.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend!

I am running way, way behind and am SO sorry I didn't get here sooner, dear Chris. I just learned I have pneumonia and was told to rest.
