Well, I had to have a little break and since I enjoyed my 5 minute pages last week for the Southerngal's challenge I made another one.
It's only because amongst a pile of scraps I came across a negative of a butterfly that I had leftover from a work shop I attended with friends years ago!
I also found a piece of paper that I have no recollection of what I had torn off but it just seemed to be right for this page. The only other thing I did was drag on some paint with an old store card, dab on some Faded Jeans DI through some sequin waste, and use the same ink for a bit of random stamping, spattering and streaking down the page! I started to use my micron pen to add some scribbly words but time ran out!
So, why was I tidying, I can only show you my desk...
...the rest of my room I am too ashamed to show you!!
What you see here is the desk of someone who doesn't like throwing anything away, not even mop up napkins, you know , when you take off the layer with the images, the leftover bits? Although I also confess to sharing a napkin with hubby sometimes and bring the spare one home for mopping up!
I'll leave you to imagine the piles of 'stuff' - some of which is definitely going out(one way or another!)
It's a while since I showed my desk over at Julia's Stamping Ground where she hosts Whats On Your Workdesk Wednesday, but, knowing Julia, she will be as welcoming as ever!
So I have two blessings to count - friends who are always there and finding treasures that remind you of friends!
Of course I am entering this page at Art Journal Journey where Elizabeth is hosting this month with her great 'Count Your Blessings' theme.
I just hope I haven't been too ambitious in thinking I will get to visit everyone!! I'll do my best!
Thanks for looking, Chris

Hey there Chris, it's good to see you back on the desks again - and what a desk yours is this week! How do you find space to work, lol? But a big well done for finding and using some old stash, that's a winner!

That butterfly negative is out of this world, Chris. It is most impressive, as is your five minute beauty. I really liked how you used the credit card technique, one of my favorite backgrounds, to compliment the sequin waste. I really like that you used both sides of it, too. Waste not, want not. Thanks also for sharing this with us at Art Journal Journey. You have been SO supportive of my theme, and I appreciate you more than you will ever know.
ReplyDeleteSorry Chris. I'm really anal. I even have a place for my mop-up napkins. If I visit someday, the first thing we will do is get EVERYTHING put away and labeled before we play. I hope that doesn't scare you off from having me in your home (grin).
Oh Chris, you do make me smile with your not throwing anything out - my son and his partner bought me a coaster that says "Make do and mend" because of my hoarding but I don't think I have the bug quite as bad as you. Love you to bits!
ReplyDeleteAlso lovel that journal page - off to find it on Instagram and give it a couple of pats.
Hugs, Neet 1 xx

ReplyDeleteLove that 5 minute challenge Chris. The use of the butterfly negative is genius. You are right about not throwing things away. Some of my best backgrounds have been inky left overs from other projects. Have a great week. Sarah #8
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful page! It's a lovely way to showcase the negative butterfly and remember your friends 😁. I'm just like you ... I can't throw anything away although I have a box that I put everything into and then when it's full I have to tidy too ...lol 😉. Have a wonderful week! J 😊 x

ReplyDeleteYou make me feel better as your desk is as bad as mine. My craft room was bad and isn't looking great yet but I am cleaning. Love your page. If you are like me you could make 100 of these to start making a dent. Enjoyed seeing yours. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteOh Chris your desk looks fine to me, least you have a desk.
ReplyDeleteLove that butterfly, great created page. If you take five minutes at breakfast dinner and tea time for a week you'd soon get rid of those leftovers hee hee!!
Happy WOYWW & Thanks for sharing Tracey #6 xx

Great page Chris, and your desk shows creativity, and is normal by my standards!

At last! Someone as messy as I am, lol!!! It looks great and very inspiring to me, Chris, but I do tidy it regularly... or I'd never find anything or have any space to work on!
ReplyDeleteSounds like my idea of hell, that office job - I hate working with figures, too. Great advice to kids with not as good as expected exam results, too.
So pleased you shared your mess.... I'll be giggling all night!

Having a quick blog surf while my visitor is out visiting!
Absolutely lovely page! They say messy people are more creative. ;)
ReplyDeleteLOVELY to see you Chris, hope you’re extremely well and enjoying it all. Can’t decide which I like the most, that lovely journal page or the sight of your desk, my word that pleases me!
