T Stands For…. the trip back 'home'

Hello everyone, I'm sorry I missed last weeks T. 
We had some time away in my home town of Lincoln, met up for lunch with an old friend, had coffee with my brother and went out for a walk and a meal with my cousin and her hubby. They are returning to Australia this week. Sad to say…none of these events got recorded on camera!!!!

We did have time to look around the upper part of the city and ventured down hill (and back again).
The guest house we stayed in was very cosy, with it's own sitting room..

…yes the beams are real!

When I lived in Lincoln we lived in the south of the city but we could see the cathedral! In fact there aren't many places you can't see it as it is at the top of a steep hill, which is actually called Steep Hill!

We walked across to the castle…( I know that this phrase amused a certain someone at Divers and Sundry blog!)…and posed for the obligatory photo by the cannon (my boys and my grandchildren would have climbed on…and have in the past!!)

We set off towards the hill, passing the information centre which was once the bank where my Aunt used to work...

…and Exchequer Gate, with the imposing cathedral behind it!
This was the gate where the citizens of Lincoln came in Mediaeval times to pay their taxes.

There are lots of lovely little shops and eateries on the hill

We stopped taking photos here - only to pick up where we left off on the way back.

There is a rail most of the way up (and seats half way up which are handy on a hot day but not necessary this time).

I was pleased to hang on to the rail though and hubby caught me having a rest as I neared halfway!

We went through the gate to see the floodlit cathedral

We wished we had been into the church on the corner earlier in the day as there was a meeting going on in the hall when we came back.

Hubby got this shot of one of the windows though!

I did remember to take a photo at breakfast the next morning.

The owner has deliberately left this part of the wall exposed in this old Coaching Inn

Breakfast was cooked to order and was delicious!

This was the view from the car park as we left. 

Although the weather was cold we really enjoyed our visit and it was interesting to see changes in the city as we drove to the south of the city to see my brother.

I will be back with another journal page later but for now I need some sleep!
