T Stands for taking another trip! EDITED!

Hi everyone! Last week was our Wedding Anniversary and hubby found a great deal at a Country hotel in an area that we had wanted to visit for a while!
It was just south of Kidderminster but close enough to travel to Hereford.
The famous Herefordshire cattle are celebrated by the bull statue in the town centre!
Our main reason for visiting Hereford though was the Cathedral.

Once inside I was amazed by the beautiful windows that let so much light in!

There was so much else to see and we had a lunch there too, but for now it's back to the hotel for our celebration meal!
I can now join Bluebeard and Elizabeth for T Stands For Tuesday
EDIT - After reading Elizabeth's comment about the expense of the meal - I should explain that we had a special offer on our meal too and the menu prices are not what we paid!!
We had an appetiser of different breads and olives and a dip.

Hubby chose chicken -I couldn't resist the fish and chips which came with tartare sauce, extra crispy bits and crushed fresh peas - those chunky chips were delicious(and I had been walking quite a bit so I had sort of earned them!!)
Next was dessert…Oh My!!
Talk about spoilt for choice!
Finally decided on Elderflower and cream cheese creme brûlée  while hubby had carrot cake. Yes, I made him wait!!!!
Although, as you can see, we drank water, I noticed that the positioning of my glass created this fabulous effect with the candle behind it.

After that there was time for a little walk around the grounds!

This was our room from the outside
We walked to the edge of a field to take this photo - they were huge!
I have lots more photos from our trip and will try to get them sorted for next week.

We had a little outing with our middle son and grandchildren this afternoon. On the way home we called into a supermarket for tomatoes and courgettes and got our courgettes at a super price and some other goodies too!
A £6 saving!!! Most of the fruit has now been eaten and the rest will go with our breakfast. The courgettes and avocado will be eaten over the next two days - they are in really good condition!

Thanks for looking, Chris

  8. First, happy belated anniversary. Sorry I missed it. I had to look on the map to see where Hereford was, then saw it was quite a distance from where you live. You two really LOVE to travel, don't you? The cathedral is gorgeous and those stained glass windows are incredible. I love the bull in the town square, too.

I was really impressed with the grounds and fountain.

You got some fantastic fruit and veggie bargains. I was super impressed. See, you DO know how to save money when you put your mind to it. We never get bargains like that. Usually 40% off is the most we can expect on reduced veggies and they never reduce fruit. I saw a guy throwing good pineapple and cut melon away one day. He said it was too dangerous to try to sell past the sell by date.

I can't believe they serve bread as an appetizer. We get it with our meal in many places. Although your fish looks good, I wonder what was sticking out of the fish. It looked like a pipette. Istill don't get the mashed peas. What is the significance, or is it a British custom I don't know about? I also would rather have your fish than T's chicken. On the other hand, I would love T's carrot cake for dessert. Also, I admit, I was a bit shocked by the price of the food. It was all rather expensive, I thought, but maybe it's because I'm not used to British prices and tiny portions.

Thanks for sharing your anniversary in Hereford with us, as well as your fabulous meal for T this Tuesday. I'm off to see what else I've missed this week.

Elizabeth's comment about the peas really made me smile, even after 40 plus years in this country, I still don't get it, but hubby loves them!!!

Thanks for sharing your beautiful photos. Hugs, Anne xx

  16. The Hereford Cathedral is amazing, Chris. The scale of the vaulted ceilings took my breath away. I can only imagine what it must be like in person. And then the beautiful stained glass windows and all the stone carvings - wow!

I had to look up courgettes. It's another word for the list. (Who's the keeper of the word list?) We call them zucchini this side of the Pond.

Happy anniversary to you both! I'm glad you got to celebrate it in such a special way and place.

    Happy T-Day! Hugs, Eileen

  18. Oh, that cathedral architecture! And that stained glass! Breathtaking!

Splurging on a special occasion is fine in my book, but I never say no to special deals :) The view from the table is delightful. The chicken and fish both look tasty, but I have a hard time resisting fish. What a wonderful celebration!

    Happy T Tuesday

  21. What a beautiful cathedral. I must have been there at one time but can't remember. Perhaps we will stop in Hereford on the way south. It is worth visiting. We hav also indulged in fish&chips and mushy peas this week.
What a coincident that you know Prestbury. My sister arrived there in 1971 and I have visited many tiems over those years that she has been there. She met her hubby, who was born there, in 1971 and after 18 months of going out together she ditched him for a fella with a Vauxhall Viva. Of course this was mentiuoned at the wedding. Hilarious! Of course they met up again years later and have been an item for yonks. They live just opposite the Bridge Hotel. Now all of a sudden they decided to get married.
I read Elizabeth's remark about the price of the meal. I'm glad I didn't share the menu card of the Legh Arms, where we have our meals. Prestbury is a posh village. My sis has plenty of money, but we live off a basic state pension and are always appalled at the prices.
We are still travelling. At the moment though at our daughter's house in Congleton, and she is busy today, so I have time to spend at the computer.
    Happy belated T-Day,
    hugs,
    Lisca

  22. Looks like a lovely celebration meal - and it's always good to find a deal or a bargain, and it looks like you managed both! One of my closest friends grew up in Hereford - it's a lovely town to visit. Did you see the Mappa Mundi at the cathedral?
