First I would like to show you my page for Out and About - Yvonne's great theme at Art Journal Journey! Having seen Jo's Paris page on her blog(here) I thought it about time I made one about my favourite city!
I used a postcard that I bought a few years ago, a carnet, a map cut from a card advertising a hotel and I stamped the Eiffel tower onto some Infusions sprinkled deli paper! The background started as a mop up but has had stencilling and stamping added.
I also have a tag that I would like to enter at
Tag Tuesday where the theme is 'Birds and nests' and also
Simon Says Monday challenge - 'Things with Wings'
Now, we did manage to get out for some walks in the sun so if you don't mind I will save our York trip for another time. Also if you have urgent tasks to do I must warn you that this may take a while!!
We went up to our caravan last Thursday and on Friday decided to use our 2 for 1 passes to visit Rydal Mount - Wordsworth's last home! We have never managed to visit in Spring to see the daffodils!
You will probably recognise the first verse to his poem….
I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and
hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the
breeze.
There were daffodils everywhere in the main garden attached to the house…...
….and lots of other things to see - this is the little shed where Wordsworth sat to write sometimes.
We could see Dora's field - planted with daffodils after Wordsworth's daughter died……….
…but couldn't see how to get in - we asked Dora the cat but she sent us to the gardener who told us we had to go out and down the hill and through the churchyard.
I have never seen so many daffodils together…
…a wonderful experience!
After all this walking up and down steps we headed to Ambleside for some lunch…
This is where I join Elizabeth for T Stands For Tuesday …..
…and confess that we were so delighted to eating outdoors in a lovely sunny space that I forgot to take a photo of the delicious wild boar burgers that we had!!!
I did get these two shots though...
Now, I could continue and show you where my son's took us yesterday - a lovely garden in Cheshire that we had never visited - Abbeywood Gardens, and Dunham Massey where we went this morning before shopping but you would be here for far too long - I will give you a couple of shots but that's it for tonight - it is very nearly Tuesday here….
..and I'm away to my bed!
I'll be here tomorrow, although we have a cinema trip planned - Odeon's Silver Screen!!
Thanks for looking, Chrisx

Wow! That Paris page and tag are just gorgeous-just like your visit to Rydal Mount. Wow-I think you were smart to go visit in the spring. I want to visit. Happy T day. Hugs-Erika

ReplyDeleteLOVE the Paris themed art of course:) Great tag and lovely photos of your walk. Happy T day!
ReplyDeleteOh Love that brilliant paint spattered Notre Dame page especially Chris!
ReplyDeleteSweet bird tag.
Wordsworth's shed is full of charm...oh the mosses and daffodils OH MY!
Your photos are all so clear and lovely.
Happy T Day oxo
Wow you have been busy, I don't know how you find the time to create beautiful art, walk, take fabulous photos and blog it all. Great post Chris xxx
ReplyDeleteThis is an incredible Paris entry. What a genuine beauty, right down to the splatters. LOVE the map and Paris stamp. The entire entry screams Paris, even though I've never been there.
ReplyDeleteYour little bird is adorable, and the feather is a nice addition.
What fantastic photos of Rydal Mount. I'm not all that familiar with Wordsworth, so feel rather silly admitting I have never heard that poem before. But there are tons and tons of daffodils in your photo. That shed looks like it is about to fall down, so I doubt I would want to write in there.
Leave it to a cat to give you the brush off. At least the gardener was helpful and the daffs are out of this world.
Ambleside looks quite warm. I LOVE the milk/cream jugs they serve. Seems this isn't the first place I've seen those jugs used.
Had to do an internet search for Carex, and found it is a handwash. DUH! I felt like a fool.
LOVED the restroom signs. And that cup embedded in the rock was pretty special, too. Can't wait to see photos from Abbywood Gardens Dunham Massey, as well as more from York. Thanks for sharing these lovely photos and your drinks with us for T this Tuesday.
What a wonderful post Chris. Just love your Paris page and it shows your deep feelings of the wonderful city.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining us at Tag Tuesday with the very beautiful bird tag. Nice feathery colours for the background as well.
Great to see pics of Rydal again though I have never been to see the daffodils I have been there from time to time when we lived in the Lake District. Too busy for us I imagine we always found a quiet mountain top instead.
The gardens look terrific as well. Never a dull momnet in your life so I am looking forward to seeing what you looked at in York as we go there quite often as it is so close by train. We go mostly to get curry supplies from the curry spice shop there.
Have a very happy T Day
Love Chrissie xx
What a lovely outing you had, thanks for sharing the photos. Love the journal page and tag, and thanks a lot for joining us at TT, much appreciated. Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeletethe Paris themed page is a beauty! Bet you can't wait to go again.. ahem! Rydal looks gorgeous, with or without daffodils, I've never been .. the wild boar burgers sound yummy!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful relaxing post Chris, I really enjoyed it! Your Paris page is gorgeous, I love the addition of the little map and other pieces of ephemera!
ReplyDeleteYou have made me want to visit Wordworth's beautiful home - how wonderful to see so many daffodils too, they must have been stunning in real life!
Your lunch sounds interesting too, I just love that loo sign, how very clever! I look forward to your next adventure! Hugs, Anne xx

Its a fantastic Paris page and tag Chris. It seems you have had a lovely few days away and your weather looks good as well.
ReplyDeleteLoved the photos of Wordsworth's home and the show of daffodils, its years since we visited there. You brought back memories showing these photos.
Happy T day.
Yvonne xx
Wow, there is so much to love about your post today! Firstly your Paris page is beautiful Chris! The vibrancy of the colours reminds me of Paris at springtime :-) . Thanks so much for mentioning me too, that is so very kind of you! This poem is one of my favourites and actually inspired the very first page I posted on my blog :-) . Rydal Water is such a pretty place and it looks like you had so much fun. Thanks again and wishing you a very Happy T Day! J :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post Chris. Your Paris page is wonderful. Very 'Paris'. Brings back memories for those who have been to Paris.
ReplyDeleteI have never been to Rydal Water. It looks absolutely delightful. So many daffodils! I have never seen so many (and I'm a Dutch girl who is used to see loads of flowers grow).
I confess to not knowing that poem, as I have not read Wordsworth. But it is very beautiful indeed. I visited Ambleside in my childhood and learnt about Wordsworth then (He is not so well known outside the English speaking world). My dad always tried to make our holidays educational, bless him.
I am really looking forward to seeing more photos next time.
Happy T-Day
Hugs,
Lisca
first: this Journal spread is a hoot!! i love every Detail about it!
ReplyDeleteand then i was EXCITED to see the same plant i had in my post, too: the yellow araceae!! they are extremely rare here in Germany, only very few Locations outside botanical gardens, and i had never seen them in free nature until sunday!! and now i find exactly the same plant here. what a coincidence!!
have a great week and happy t-day, Chris!
A fabulous journal page, Paris is so brilliant for using in art. Love the bird tag as well, and your photographs are wonderful. It looks like a great place to visit, shame we sold our caravan.
ReplyDeleteOh how i envy you all your wonderful gardens Chris! Planted a field of daffodils for his daughter.. wow... so beautiful... Thank you for taking us along! Happy T day! Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteI love "defend us from the tyranny of trimness and neatness" :) I love the moss and lichen and never understood why some want to clear it off. That area is gorgeous, and those daffodils!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to try wild boar! You'd think as many as there are around here, with unlimited hunting, boar would be on menus. But no :(
Thx for the tour. Happy T Tuesday :)
I so enjoy my visits here to your blog, and the lovely walks you take us on! your journal page is beautiful, love all the collage, stamping and textures....and your sweet birdie tag too! Wordsworth's rustic gardens are stunning, and enjoyed the quote about 'rubbish.' I've never seen that before, and really underlines how 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder!' happy T day, and thanks for the daffodil/tea break!

ReplyDeleteLovely art today ♥♥♥♥ Your walk about was fascinating... all of those gorgeous daffodils ♥♥♥♥ You know my heart was racing away :) The stone shed does look as if it's ready to collapse though. Thanks for sharing all of yuor lovely Spring photos ♥
What wonderful art you created!! Since I will never get to Europe in "real life", I love to visit through online photos! Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI'm stopping by to view your bird/nest themed tag, which is so lovely, but I enjoyed the photo tour too. Lovely to see so many daffodils. Theresa
ReplyDeleteJust as Theresa mentioned, I came to peek at your tag (lovely) and was gobsmacked by your trip photos. I've just finished watching a British series called "Escape to the Country" and have an overwhelming desire to live in a home just like Wordsworth's! Imagine the inspiration I would have being in such wonderful surroundings. And with a home this big, I'd ask all my artsy friends to come visit and stay for as long as they'd like. (I can dream can't I?) Thanks SO much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful post, Chris! My you've been busy. The Paris page is gorgeous. I love the background (that started as a mop-up!) and the color scheme you chose. Your birds and nests tag is marvelous. Thank you for taking through the lovely grounds and gardens of Wordsworth's home.
ReplyDeleteHappy T-day! hugs, Eileen
What a lovely blog post and I've really enjoyed reading it and looking at all your wonderful photos! Your tag is also fantastic and I love the rustic feel you've captured...
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing and for playing along with us over on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog... :) xx
