Stars shine in the darkness!

My title refers to the heroes of today, our police and emergency services! As yet we don't know any details, but there was a terrorist attack in London this afternoon and a policemen doing his duty was killed! My heart goes out to all those caught up in this dreadful event!

It has also changed the nature of the page I was preparing! I had started this page a while ago by using Infusions and now I can't remember which ones!
I painted the bottom half of the page with Frescos(Little black Dress) and then stamped some Paper Artsy Lynne Perrella building stamps and a York Minster one bought in York - there is a stamp shop by the city gates.
At that point it was going to be page about our visit to York but when the news broke this afternoon it seemed that a sunny day suddenly turned dark! There was an immediate response from our emergency services and this prompted me to use this quote from the internet!

I would like to enter Challenge no4 at Paper Artsy - Doors, Windows, Architecture.

I would also like to join in again with Yvonne's theme 'Out and About' at Art Journal Journey

A big Thank You to all those who attend tragedies that are often dark in nature!

Thanks for looking, Chris

  1. I, too, was very shocked when I saw it on the news this evening, the world is getting crazier and more violent day by day. Lovely and fitting journal page, hugs, Valerie

  5. What a beautiful and fitting tribute, and the sentiment is just perfect. I can't help thinking of these poor people who just set out on the start of today as we all did with no idea of what was to come. My heart goes out to them and their families and your piece of art is such a fitting tribute. I bet you had a visit to 'Make Your Mark' on your trip to York. We only live about an hour away and we visit there often on our travels. Crafty hugs, Sandra x

  7. A very touching page, a real tribute to what has been happening here in London today.
I think most of us were stunned at the news and feel for those who lost loved ones and were injured. Our Police and Emergency services deserve all the praise we can give them

  9. It's been all over the news here, and local crews are scrambling to learn more. Seems there were some Americans inside Parliament when the attack happened. It's a sad day and one that we should not ignore.

As an aside, and not to belittle the brave officer who lost his life today, we had a "similar" incident earlier this week, when we lost both a police officer and his canine partner. Both were killed by a suspect who was later killed by other officers. Such a waste of life and outpouring over this officer and his faithful dog companion. Both "officers" have been awarded medals posthumously by the city.

  15. A very poignant and evocative tribute on a very sad day and a beautiful piece of art. It makes me feel very humble that people are working to protect us, both behind the scenes in intelligencd gathering and in putting their lives at risk. Also that ordinary people going about their day will step in and help one another without a thought for themselves. There is far more good than evil in the world,

  16. Chris, this is beautiful and such a powerful tribute! The events on Wednesday felt so close to home, as the courageous Police Officer who lost his life had worked here in Bromley where we live for a while and my friend's son had walked over Westminster Bridge to a conference only the day before. The courage and selflessness of those who protect us on a daily basis never cease to humble me. Thank You for meditating in your journal and creating such a poignant image, so relevant to us all.
