I think I may have mentioned that I got some goodies on last Saturday….well I have been playing.
I was getting a bit impatient about receiving some Distress Oxides in the post so I bought some of the colours I hadn't ordered! My friend Sarah had brought her journal with her with such amazing pages - you can find her blog here and I suggest you link to her Instagram account to see more pages using these brilliant inks.
Of course, come Monday morning they arrived!
I didn't have a lot of time to play as we were going away to York for a few days
Now we are back I was inspired to make a journal page - I am sure I am not the only one to be hearing blackbirds singing at what seems to be all hours of the night - we have a tree right outside our bedroom window that seems to be the favourite place for one blackbird in particular. When we were away and quite close to a busy road I didn't expect to hear much except traffic - except that we were at the back of the hotel with a lovely view of the minster in the distance….
….do you see the tree? At 3.30 on our first morning we had Mr Blackbird singing his song to us….he may have been there the next morning but we were so tired I couldn't tell you whether he was or not!!
The background is made with oxides and then streaked over with some Distress inks and stamped with some Paper Artsy stamps (Lin Brown and Sarah Naumann) I added the Tim Holtz small talk words after I had smudged some ink over them.
I would like to add this to Art Journal Journey's entries for Yvonne's great theme - 'Out And About'
York was wonderful and there will be more photos to come (probably on Tuesday!)There was so much to see and we didn't have nearly enough time(we were on a special offer at the hotel)….so another visit may be on the cards!!!
I had time to play in a little square journal before we went away and made these
I love the way the oxides almost melt together! As you can see in the top one I had a little issue with stamping and it didn't stamp properly - I ended up stamping some text over those parts!!
Thanks for looking, Chris
Beautiful pages Chris. I love the oxides too. Great fun to see how they turn out. Enjoy your Weekend. Hugs Rita xx

We have a pair of blackbirds in our garden but I don't know where their nest is. Must be far away as they don't arrive early
Love Chrissie xx
They are beautiful journal pages Chris, those inks look amazing. York is a place we like to visit as well, so many things to do and see.

Fabulous pages Chris, the Oxides are fabulous aren't they? Happy Sunday xxx
ReplyDeleteYour "little issue with stamping" is so much better than anything I could do. These turned out fantastic. I was really impressed. Of course, I was also thrilled with the beautiful AJJ journal entry, too. Your command of stamping is unbelievable.
ReplyDeleteWonderful pages dear Chris! The Oxides are just made for you I guess! Thank you very much for linking your fantastic pages to AJJ! I am looking forward to seeing more of York on Tuesday!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful page celebrating the blackbirds singing... I love that the sky could be almost any time of the day or night, and the layered grasses look fab. Gorgeous floral pages too - lovely work with the Oxides all round.
