I can hardly believe this, but I am in the Spotlight at Simon Says Stamp Blog - Monday Challenge!
When I was first contacted by Lols(way back!) I thought I had made a mistake, when she told me that I hadn't, but I was going to be in the Spotlight for August I must say a bit of pinching myself took place!!!
It goes without saying that I am delighted to be here alongside the amazing Design Team!!!
We are showcasing Simon Says Stamp today as it is their 6th Birthday.
I chose to use the Cone Building set but not for Ice-cream! Oh No!
If I am celebrating it's cake all the way and the bowl turned upside down makes an excellent cake.
In fact as soon as I saw this set I realised that another of my favourite cakes was there and I made my background of macarons.I tested several of the browns in the Ranger Distress Inks range
These macarons of course are from a posh shop in Paris that sprinkle gold on the top
I added my sprinkles using Ranger Stickles Rose Gold Glitter glue added by dipping the end of an embossing tool into the glue and dotting it on.
Next my cake…
That of course had to go on a stand.
I stamped the bowl using Ground Espresso Distress Ink (to get a chocolate cake texture I had to over stamp a couple of times)
The stand was made by stamping the lemon slice in Tarnished Brass Distress paint and then using the edge of the corrugated card to make a flat surface
As I was cutting it out I didn't worry too much about it going wider than it should!!
The corrugated card circle was some I had left over from making Elizabeth's tip in pages!, as I remember I used Distress Mica sprays, Tim Holtz Rusty Hinge and Vintage Photo Distress Inks, Paper Artsy Metallic Glaze,
After mounting the cake onto the circle I just had to have candles - no worries there - I had spotted some exclamation marks on the 'Oh Happy Day!!!' stamp so I stamped them six times over and cut them out. It was quite tricky but sticking them on with the help of tweezers was really easy!
The flames were added in the same way as the sprinkles on the macarons.
You can see here the stamps I used from this fabulous set.
I hope you liked my way to stretch your use of a stamp set!
I used Gemstone Core'Dinations to back the macaron card before mounting it onto my card.
Don't forget when you enter the challenge you are in with the chance of winning a 50$ voucher to spend in the Simon Says Stamp shop! There are two chances this time(can you believe it!?) so come on and celebrate!
I do hope you will come along and join the celebrations!
Thanks for looking, Chris
