Try It On Tuesday and T stands for …..a Trip to the seaside

Hello everyone, I'm back from a lovely but busy long weekend! Thank You for your visits and kind comments, they are most appreciated! I hope to get around to making some visits soon

Our new theme at Try It On Tuesday is 'Nature' and I have a journal page to show you.

When I was teaching we often used to take the children on walks, either in the nearby park or further afield - one of our favourite places was Dovestone Reservoir - it was so peaceful and I used to encourage the children to stand and listen - I still do this with our grandchildren - often we see, but but miss so much by not listening!

The background was spritzed ink and and some stencilling. I added some random stamping and then I used some scraps from my scrap box - I have sooooo many scraps leftover from other projects and the only new thing I added here was some tissue tape and the stamped sentiment.
I am also linking this to Art Journal Journey where I have been hosting this month with the theme 'If You Go Down To The Woods'. The quote is from a Crafty Individuals tree set.

T Stands for Tuesday over at Bluebeard and Elizabeth's blog

This time I have a drink and food to show you …and a few photos…

When we went up to our caravan on Friday we decided to go via Morecambe and visit one of our favourite places to eat.
We like the Rotunda at the back of the hotel - it is cheaper than the main restaurant and less formal. I have taken you here before..
We ordered Fish and Chips..and Mushy peas!
You maybe can't read the paper it was on but they are quotes from the Morecambe and Wise show…this one got a bit greasy but the waiter seeing me trying to read them bought me a couple of clean ones(coming to a journal page some time soon!)Here are a couple of links to two of my favourite clips(my very favourite - Singing in the rain has been blocked by the BBC)
We also had our drinks, a latte for me and tea for hubby.
Afterwards we went out of the back door for a walk.
The view from the steps outside
The Rotunda from the bottom of the steps

We walked past the old Lido area - this often has a fairground there..
today there was a circus!

Morecambe has lots of art work related to birds and beaches.

Some of the architecture is interesting too - the bottom photo is of the Winter Gardens - a lot of famous stars appeared here! It is being restored but will take a long time.

The statue of Eric Morecambe - see the birds at the front?
You can see the mountains of Cumbria across the bay - there is a model to show what you are seeing
Warton Crag is the one we see from our caravan - several miles away

I hope you will join in - maybe with your drink related post at The Altered Booklover, a Journal page for AJJ or with anything Nature related at Try It On Tuesday where the challenge is open for the next two weeks - we are looking for all kinds of crafting as your entry, as long as it follows the theme!

Thanks for looking, I will be back with more photos from our weekend another day, Chris

Your nature page is super and extra special made from scraps.
The words really speak to me too.
Pausing to "listen" is always a fun thing to do I find.

  10. I was truly impressed with this nature inspired entry. I love how the bird sits in the hole in the tree. I like how you used the corrugated, too. You use a LOT of dimensional art in your journals, and I would love to just touch them some day.

Thanks again for the stamps. They came in handy when I decided to make my nature inspired piece. I was so glad you sent them. It was almost deja vu.

I LOVE your trip to Morecambe and the hotel where you had lunch. It's a gorgeous place. Although I had never heard of Eric Morecambe before, I love the statue.

Thanks also for joining in the T fun this week. I was shocked the BBC would block Singin in the Rain. It's a classic. I would gladly eat that lunch and read those quotes. It's fun to see your latte and Tony's tea for T this Tuesday.

  22. A really lovely post of your art work/journal page and your day trip. We went on your recommendation last trip to Pine Lakes and the Midland really lived up to it's reputation. I love the Art Deco Eric Gill panels behind the reception and in the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Hall we have Eric Gill panels down each side of the auditorium. I'm off to Germany on my ownsome next week but after that we'll be paying another trip up there.
