Second Look on the 2nd

I am joining Bleubeard and Elizabeth at The Altered Book Lover for a look back at one of my old posts that you may not have seen.
I don't know why, but looking back at some of my posts, the photos seem to have disappeared - just a triangle with an exclamation mark in it!

Playing in my journals

We have just had a lovely break at our caravan and although we got out and about - including my hubby's zoo keeper day(I will post some photos soon!)I had time to relax with my journals. I took my little moleskine with me but did little more than start a few backgrounds. I also took my very first journal which has been sitting waiting for me for some time as I tend to use a mixture of different journals - mostly A5 and smaller, all with different types of paper. It is a pink pig A5 with watercolour paper that my son bought me waaay back when he was a student(he's just coming up for 30!)
This page is about my fantasy cat - I drew him in the back of one of my smaller journals ages ago following a dream I had....
I don't know where he came from....had I seen him somewhere in a book or was he totally imagined? I really don't know, but I do think he deserves a journal page of his own!
This page in the same journal was prompted by finding this picture on a leaflet in a bank in Carnforth while waiting for hubby.

I'll be back soon with more. Thank you for looking and I would love it if you would leave a comment, Chris

This as you can see is from September 2012 - I have since become bolder with my journaling and use larger journals, although my travel journals are still A6 size.
The bottom page was made while we were preparing to sell our house and having a massive de-clutter!

Hope you enjoyed this little reminisce with me!

Thanks for looking, Chris

  1. Fun journal pages! I work large - A3, as I don't see so well and it's easier for me to work big! Have a nice weekend, hugs, Valerie

  2. That's strange (and rather worrying) about the disappearing photos... I'm sure there will be somebody out there who knows something about it! Another great revisit - so interesting to look back and see where the journey has taken you... I may have to do some wallowing in my own back-catalogue!

  3. A fun idea this and really interesting to see where your art journey has taken you in two years... Love your fantasy cat! As to the missing photos.... I wonder whether that is google, you only have x number of megabites on a free blog, after that you have to pay, - I was hot with that a few years back. It pays too save you photos no larger than 500 pixels..... not sure though, but it could possibly be that....

  5. I can relate to that last photo. This is wonderful, and I loved the cake reference.

Bleubeard gives your dream cat two paws up, and I give him a high five. He's quite a clever cat to have taken over your dreams, then your journal page.

Thank you SO much for joining Second on the 2nd this month. It was a fun, fun look back because it was actually a first look for me.

  6. It is very rewarding to see even several months ago what we created and how much we change in our skills and tastes and mediums over time. I know I've changed a lot over the past few years. It amazes me when I go back and look at older works. Sometimes I am reminded of a technique I haven't used in quite a while and I get excited to use it again. These are great pages and they make me smile when I look at them. What great memories!

  8. Terrific fun page with the marvelous cat and I can understand the second page so well after getting rid of so much stuff when we thought we were moving house to live in a little bungalow.

I have lots of old pages with triangles where photographs used to be. I assumed I may have cleared stuff out and forgotten I had done that. I sometimes think I might run out of storage space in the albums but I am sure I will need to live to be 100 before that happens.

    Love Chrissie xx

  11. Love that dream cat! "Cats are symbolic of rebirth and resurrection, per their nine lives. Because they are nocturnal, they are also associated with darkness. Darkness often goes with fear, the unconscious, and things that are hidden. Cats are also symbols of mystery and magic, as aforementioned, but also unpredictability and even healing." Looking back to that time, perhaps you can see why he came to you.
