Miniature portrait!

I love making small things but don't seem to have had much time lately - a lot happening……!
Paper Artsy are featuring Miniature Art as their topic this time so had to play!!!
I bought these for £1 the other week from The Works - though they might come in useful!
I also have been wanting to play with my shrink plastic again so set to yesterday!

I got so involved forgot to take photos and then took these in bad light last night. I used the image from Paper Artsy LPC009 and decided I wanted it black and white, having coloured something else in and not liking the colours!
The little wooden frame got the PA Fresco treatment - Mocha Mousse, Crackle glaze and then a combination on Bora Bora and Inky Pool - It didn't crackle as  much as I'd hoped but this turned out to be an advantage as when I added the copper acrylic paint with my finger I really liked the effect I got.
I had already made a hole in the top so just had to relocate it and push it through and here is my little ornament.
This is the start of my Christmas ornaments for next year - the back looks ok but I'm thinking of needle felting something..we'll see!

Thanks for looking Chris.

  4. Crackle? Who cares about crackle when you can 'age' a little frame as beautifully as you have Chris - it is truly fabulous. Needle felting would look superb on the backs too... Hugs, Anne xx

  10. Think I might just have to have a visit to our local Works. The texture on your frame looks brilliant and with your image has a super aged feel to it.
Congrats on your win at CVC.

  16. Well I never, Chris, I bought some of those frames myself the other day: aren't they a great find? I even put a little SP pic in the frame! Great minds definitely think alike, eh? This is a link to the blog where I used them if you're interested http://magpieheaven.blogspot.co.uk/2015/02/fragrant-blossoms-and-morning-dew.html. I love the mini art you've created here. I'm inspired now to go off and give those little frames some different painty treatments. xxx

    It's beautiful, Chris!
Reminded me to have another go with shrink plastic.....can be really fun.
Needle felting will be a nice change, though you have done some before, haven't you?

  20. Oh, wow - look at those fabulous little frames... wonder if I can get myself to The Works in the next few days before they all disappear.

I love what you've created with yours - the gilding looks fantastic over the shades of teal you've created with some of my favourite Fresco colours. Wonderful miniature work.
