Card for a man?

I can do it …with a little help from my friend!!
I had a birthday card to make for my son's partner and, although I knew the date suddenly realised I hadn't made one and ….it's today!!!!!
So into the craft room, stepping over things I have ready for my GD, charity shop/tip, and set to looking for manly colours.
Decided on blue and brown - I'm so predictable!!!
My lovely friend Sarah allowed me to stamp some images the other day that I thought would be just perfect although in the end I chose just one of the set of three Smitten Moustache Monsters (see what Sarah did here)
coloured in with distress markers, stormy sky, frayed burlap and walnut stain
Bearing in mind that speed was of the essence - what on earth possessed me to make an easel card? I haven't made one of these for ages so had forgotten where the scoring went so had to chop it down a bit!!!
Here it is from the front - although he has gorgeous eyes I used some wiggly eyes that I found while sorting things out for GD.
I think he looks quite happy mounted on hessian!
Card now delivered - hope he likes it!

Edit - he liked it and said I got extra points for googly eyes!!

I would like to enter this in the challenge 'Only Men Allowed' at Country View Challenges

Thanks for looking, Chris

  3. Oh wow, I like it, too. Although you could probably count the number of cards I've made in my life on one hand, I've never even considered one for a man. But I have to say, it's like the old saying, "I can't define it, but I'll know it when I see it." And I truly saw this one was made for your son's partner. Way to go!

BTW, did I ever ask if you would let me add your blog to my left sidebar? I only add those that allow me to do so.

  4. Great work Chris! I don't care it it's predictable I love your brown and blue combo choice! It works brilliantly here, so go for it, I say! Blue and Brown are the tops for a whole range of different styles of project, I reckon. I really love easel cards, but I don't know how to make them! If we ever meet, which would be lovely, maybe you could also give me a quickie tutorial on the basics? Julie Ann xx

Thanks for your comment Chris. Good luck with your French windows....they will be well worth the expense
It's amazing to me how much is charged these days to get anything done to our homes. I thought it was 'cos we moved south where everything is twice the price.

  9. I love his googly eyes, and the hessian scraps work so well as framing elements. Love those little buttons too... I think it's a great card. Thanks so much for playing along with us at Country View Challenges.
