Our nephew is now grown up, he's always been a bit wild but he's finally settled down and has a new baby and he's had to grow up fast so instead of a frivolous card he had to have something a bit more fitting(LOL!)
It started with a combination of Frayed Burlap and Weathered Wood and a fair sprinkling of water! I used stencils then, again using Weathered Wood. Some paper from a pad I bought years ago, the stamps are from the little set of stamps I got at Tim's workshop last year plus the Warehouse District set, and the background for the bike is text from a set of clear Tim stamps again bought ages ago and lost the pack! I used Wendi Vecchi's Potting Soil Archival ink to stamp, apart from the compass, which I did using the watercolour method and Seedless Preserve distress ink.
A little strip of craft paper and a set of little letters just finished it.
I would like to link this to
Try it on Tuesdays where the theme is Travel
and Our Creative Corner where there is a three colour challenge without the use of black - browns, blues, purple
Thanks for looking, Chris

This is fantastic Chris. I love the weathered/distressed/stencilled background and the way you've layered up the scraps below the bike. Great idea to use some of those little stamps from the Tim workshop too! Thanks so much for joining us at Our Creative Corner. Jenny x
ReplyDeleteWonderful colour combo - beautiful and just right for a man! I'm sure your once 'wild' nephew has made a lovely dad - the wild ones often do! I also think he'll love this beautiful card - such a great composition and I love torn edges too! Julie Ann xx

ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic masculine card. I just love the inky background - colours and splatter - and so cool to see the tiny stamps put to such perfect use. Lovely to have you play along with us at Our Creative Corner too...
