We went up to our caravan last week - it started very wet and windy and we thought we had made a big mistake! We started with quick trip into Morecambe and then spent a cosy evening listening to the rain against the window!
It was still quite windy on Friday morning so we decided to wait until after lunch to go for a bit of fresh air.
Morecambe Bay has a unique weather system and when we got to Arnside(about 9 miles away) it was warmer and I realised I could have worn a lighter coat!
We had walked along to the post office to post a letter and crossed over to see the flower beds...
..and the view over the viaduct.
We walked along the beach, looking at the birds
The sky looked quite dramatic
We had to pick our way through the soggy parts to get up the steps by the jetty
The views from the end of the jetty are lovely...some of the houses here are B and Bs
There were some people outside the Albion having drinks...
....and you can see one of our favourite cafes - the Wagtail in the centre of this pic...we decided to head back to the caravan this time though...
....so we walked along to the ramp - can you see the snow on the mountains in the distance?Just as I was getting into the car I spotted the two jackdaws having a drink! Now, shall I join Bleubeard and Elizabeth here with these birds...
...perhaps not!!!
I think someone might recognise this place...Jo, we will have to meet up at Barton Grange for lunch when we get back into a routine!!!
I really wanted a blueberry scone so we shared a rather large salad bun along with a coffee, hubby had his favourite...carrot cake!
The evening was spent sorting out my little journal bag - I have decided that when we go to Paris I will probably only have time for a few collage pages!
I have made a rather larger journal page for Art Journal Journey and Wendy's 'Having Fun' theme. In this case the only fun was me making this page with lots of ink and paint....the young man clearly doesn't want to be in this bright place!
I used a whole load of stencils(TIOT's theme this time)and some paint and stamps too. I drew in some large black circles and added some circles cut from scraps(I am currently playing along with Brigit Koopsen's Everything Circles Instagram challenge)
I added a TH paper doll and a snarky comment! Finally some blue ink around the edges.
I may get around to making some scheduled posts - we are pretty much organised -but if not I'll see you when I get back!
Thanks for looking, Chrisx
Oh Chris Morcambe looks so enchanting-despite any imperfect weather. Nice capture of the thirsty birds joining in on T day:) Another yummy looking lunch . LOVE your journal page- the colors and layers are brilliant!! Happy T day!
ReplyDeleteWow, that looks like a pretty place to walk especially with flower bed like the ones you showed us. And wonderful journal page today. It's fun to make oversized and undersized pages for a switch isn't it? Changing the page size makes you think differently and you really thought in a unique way which I just love. Have a happy T day Chris. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteI always love it when you take us to Morcambe. It's a beautiful area, too. Had to laugh at the birds joining in for T. I LOVE carrot cake. My grandmother used to make it every year for my birthday. T's looks better than any I've gotten in restaurants here. And that scone looks wonderful, too. Of course I'd gladly join you for coffee. Thanks for sharing your food and coffees with us for T this Tuesday and thanks for inviting the birds to join us, too.
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely, lovely journal page. I agree the young man looks bored and the snarky saying says it all, too. It's good that you are meeting three challenges and I'm especially happy you shared it with us at Art Journal Journey using Wendy's theme.
I think Morecambe looks great even on a cloudy day, always love a beach! I'm looking forward to your Paris trip already!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you have been having a fun time. I always loved Morecambe, too, we often did trips there at the weekend from St Helen. The food looks great, too. Have a fun week and a happy T Day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteI love your happy life and art dear Chris!
ReplyDeleteAll sing fun, happiness and creativity - gorgeous!
You made the best of your days out again as I can see!
Happy T-Day and thank you for joining in at Art Journal Journey once again my artful friend! Your page is wonderful!
Big hugs
Susi
Fantastic Art Journal page.
ReplyDeleteYour photos look great and I like carrot cake!
Lovely photos of your walk and Morcambe and your time away in the caravan.
ReplyDeleteThe carrot cake would have been my choice, your food does look yummy.
A great journal page and your chap looks as if he wants to leave the party sooner rather than stay.
Happy T day wishes Chris.

this is a fantastic journaling page with great colors - love everything about it!
ReplyDeleteenjoy your trips and have a nice springtime! xox
Great page Chris! I love the colours and background.
ReplyDeleteI've only been to Morecambe the once, we cycled along the promenade on our fold up bikes :-)

Fabulous colourful page, and lovely photos of Morecambe. Not somewhere I have ever been to,. We gave up caravanning several years ago as Peter didn't want to tow anything ever again.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing with us again on Art Journal Journey.
Hugs Wendy
Thanks so much Chris for taking us along on your walk-I really enjoyed all the views, the water, the birds-just lovely.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful art pages! Happy T wishes Kathy
I so enjoyed walking with you today! You are right we seem to have our own micro climate on the NW coast of Lancashire ...lol 😉. I would love to meet up for lunch one day at Barton Grange and it's seems we were both there last week as I visited both the garden centre and The Flower Bowl, we may have even been there at the same time ...lol 😀. Your page is gorgeous, I love the colours and your background reminds me of the solar system and planets - beautiful! Wishing you a very happy T Day and happy travels! J 😊 x
ReplyDeleteHi Chris, great photos and I always envy you when I hear you are away in your caravan, even when it's raining LOL.
ReplyDeleteI miss our caravan still after 15 years, we once went to Blackpool with our boys in October, rain lashing down but we were cosy inside, woke up the next morning in the middle of a lake!! had to leave early, carrying boys and dog to the car.
Happy Travels and T day

Your setting with its views is wonderful. I can see why a B&B would do well there.
ReplyDeleteThe birds enjoy drinking from puddles and wouldn't like coffee at all lol Y'all's refreshment looks much more tempting to me ;) Happy T Tuesday!
Love coming along on your wanderings!
ReplyDeleteFood looks delicious.
Will be a challenge to decide what to bring with, I'm sure. :)
Great photos. It looks like a lovely place to walk around and see. Lovely artwork. Happy T-Day!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place to walk along the water. And such pretty flower beds. It is very picturesque. Your meal with your hubby looks delicious but the blueberry scones sounds like the best part of the meal.
ReplyDeleteI love all the swirls and colors in your journal page. It is an amazing backdrop for your TH doll.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
What a lovely place for an outing. The flowers are so vibrant. Having a walk along the beach all to yourselves is just heaven. Your joke about the jackdaws made me chuckle. Yummy lunch. That carrot cake looks amazing. I like the colors on your journal page. The quote made me laugh outloud. I was glad I had finished my cup of tea. :-D Happy T Day
ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures of your day out in Morecambe and I think my choice would be the carrot cake. A fabulous colourful journal spread so I don't know why that young man wouldn't want to be there.
ReplyDeleteAvril xx
Arnside looks beautiful, even though the sun wasn't shining. I didn't know there was a viaduct.
ReplyDeleteYour tea looks lovely. I would have liked a piece of that carrot cake.
The two birds drinking are just perfect for T-Day. Well spotted!
Hugs,
Happy T-Day,
Lisca
